Alasdair C. McNeill is a London-based visual artist working across portraiture, figurative painting and landscape. His work combines traditional drawing and painting with a strong cinematic eye, shaped by two decades working in the film industry as a visual effects artist.
Following his education in Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art, McNeill built a career in film, contributing to major productions including Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy, Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven, The Jungle Book, Wonka and Steve McQueen’s Blitz.
His recent film work includes Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, in which one of his paintings appears on screen, and Patrick Vollrath’s upcoming action thriller Subversion, starring Chris Hemsworth.
Alongside his film work, McNeill continues to develop a studio practice focused on original paintings, studies and commissioned works.
